Some people may be leery of weighted gloves, but they are perfectly safe to use in your cardio workouts. In fact, there are hundreds of trainers and workout programs such as Chalene Johnson's Turbo Jam that recommend working out with weighted gloves to add intensity to your cardio workouts. These gloves are usually no more than 2-5 pounds each, but can do wonders to add resistance for an extra cardio and resistance workout. They are made from lightweight fabric that also make it possible to use and manipulate your hands with no problems. They do not restrict your hands or arms in any manner.
Weighted gloves can be used in just about any cardio exercise, such as walking, jogging, step aerobics, shadow boxing, kickboxing, and even dancing. There are plenty of programs that are designed around wearing weighted gloves such as Turbo Jam and Hip Hop Abs.
By just adding the small amount of weight that are contained in the weighted gloves you are making your body have to work harder. When your body has to work harder during exercise, it burns more fat and calories. This fitness equipment also works to increase your muscle strength while performing your cardio workouts. Basically, you are getting both a cardiovascular workout as well as a resistance workout.
Weighted gloves are a great way to take your cardiovascular workouts to the next level. They can help you get out of a weight loss plateau as well as help you sculpt lean arms. Best of all, weighted gloves are rather inexpensive, but can be one of the greatest pieces of workout equipment that you invest in for your cardio exercises.

P90X Equipment needed for the program
Although P90X does not require any complicated workout equipment for the DVDs, it does require some P90X equipment to get started with the workouts. Here is the P90X equipment that you will need for the workouts.
Dumbbells or P90X Resistance Bands
You may already have a pair of dumbbells at home or even resistance bands from other workouts. If you do need dumbbells you can visit your local sporting goods store and get a couple different sets in different weights. If you don't have resistance bands, Beachbody also offers bands that go along with the P90X program. The good thing about resistance bands is that they do not take up much space and you can even take them on trips as they are very compact to pack. They also offer a great workout as you are working against your own body weight to develop muscle.
P90X Chin Up Bar
There is a chin up bar from P90x that simply attached in doorways. It takes no lengthy installation. If you don't want to buy the P90x chin up bar, then you can also make your own from the ceiling of your basement or make a bar that attached in the doorway as well. There are several times in the program that you are going to need to the chin up so it is not an optional piece of P90x equipment unless you want to sit out the back, chest, and arm exercises during the workouts.
Yoga Mat and Yoga Block
A yoga mat comes in handy with the P90x yoga workout but also with the stretching workout as well. A yoga block may come in handy for anybody who is not as flexible as others. With a yoga block you can still perform exercises that you may have had bad form before because you were not flexible enough. A yoga block is basically a small piece of foam support in it.
Space
Although space is really not a piece of P90X equipment it is needed if you are going to follow the workout system. There is no way that you are going to be the Plyometrics video without a lot of space. In this video, there is tons of big moves along with all types of jumping. Each video in the P90x system takes quite a bit of space to properly workout. This may involve moving around furniture or finding a new place to do your workouts out at.
The P90X workout program does not involve any of the latest gadgets to lose weight. Instead it only takes a few key equipment pieces that are rather inexpensive. None of the latest technology pieces are required to get started moving. The P90X workout simply uses hard work and dedication to help people lose weight for good and reshape with bodies.

Slim in 6 Beach Body Tips For Looking Your Best This Summer
When summer comes around it seems like everybody is looking for a way to tone up and lose some extra weight from the winter. Everybody wants that beach body that they dream of. There are some simple tips for getting that beach body and being confident as you strut your stuff around in the skimpy summer clothes. Here are some helpful tips for achieving the beach body of your dreams and looking your best this summer.
Don't procrastinate and wait until the last minute before you summer vacation or the special event that you want to look your best for to start working on your beach body. You will not be able to achieve your best body in only a few short days. This means if you know that you are going to be taking a vacation to Hawaii in July, start your beach body workouts and nutrition plan at the latest in the beginning of June.
It is possible to lose at least two dress sizes and tone up and tighten your body within six weeks. It just takes dedication and a commitment to your program. Slim in 6 is an example of a fitness program that only takes six weeks to reshape your body by slimming and toning your entire body to give you the beach body you want. Slim in 6 provides you with high intensity workouts to get the maximum calorie burn so you can reshape your body in only six weeks.
Exercise is not the only thing needed to get a beach body this summer. You need to eat right and consume less calories than you are right now. A good idea is to give up white starchy foods such as pasta, bread, and potatoes and replace then with healthier whole grain options. Simply replacing your white bread with whole wheat bread can help you lose your food cravings and feel full for longer. This can help you eat less, which means you lose more weight.
Be sure to set realistic goals for what you want to look like this summer. If you are currently 75 pounds overweight, it may be unrealistic that you are going to be wearing a bikini in only six weeks. A more realistic goal would be to that you are going to lose 20 pounds in six weeks along with three dress sizes.
The best way to stay on track for your beach body is set up a regular schedule of when you are going to workout. Actually write your workouts into your schedule, as it makes it harder for you to pass up your workouts for something else. Since you know that it fits into your busy schedule, there is nothing holding you back from your workout.
Lastly, keep your goal of having a beach body and looking your best this summer in mind when you are having food cravings or dedication to the program problems. Imagine yourself strutting your beach body in that bikini as you walk on the sands of the beach. Think about how many people are going to be looking at you and seeing how great you look. Always keep that vision in your head as it can do wonders for your motivation.

Hip Hop Abs: Stop Doing Sit Ups To Get Flat Abs
It is a common misconception that you have do hundreds and hundreds of sit ups and crunches to get flat abs. You don't even have to do one sit up or crunch and you can still get flat abs and the stomach that you have been dreaming about. With the tilt, tuck, and tighten method that was developed by fitness expert Shaun T in his workout Hip Hop Abs, you can flatten your abs and you never have to get on the floor.
Doing sit ups can be painful on your back and your neck. If you do not do them properly you can even injure your back and neck. It is not comfortable laying on the ground and crunching up and down as your back and neck get jolted all around.
Not only are sit ups and crunches uncomfortable and painful, they are also not very effective in getting six pack abs. What many people do not realize is that crunches will not get rid of the fat on your stomach. There is no way that you can spot train and pick and choose where the fat comes off your body. Sit ups may help to strengthen your abdominal muscles and give them definition but if there is still a layer of fat sitting on top of the stomach muscles, then you will never see your defined muscles. Instead all you will see is a belly paunch that never goes away.
What you need to lose belly fat and get flat abs is cardiovascular exercise along with exercises that strengthen and tone the stomach muscles. Through a technique called tilt, tuck, and tighten, Shaun T provides that type of exercise in one easy workout called Hip Hop Abs.
The way that this technique works is that you are constantly engaging and contracting your abdominal muscles during your whole cardio workout. This not only provides you with a
cardiovascular workout that burns fat from your entire body, but it also helps to strengthen and tone your midsection. It is an all-in-one comprehensive workout so that you can get flat abs in a quicker period of time. In Hip Hop Abs, you will never see Shaun T do one crunch or sit up on the ground. Instead, he basically does his “sit ups” while standing and dancing.
Hip Hop Abs and all Shaun T's products can be purchased at Surferbodyfitness.com.
Is There a Difference Between P90X and Power 90 Workouts?
There may be some confusion on if there is a difference in two of Tony Horton's workout programs. Although P90X and Power 90 sound a lot alike and do have some of the same basic principles, the two workouts are quite different.
The P90X workout program was developed after Power 90 and is based off the core of the program. But what Tony Horton did with P90X was he further developed the program for people who are looking for more of a challenge after completing Power 90. P90X has more intensity and can actually be used for the rest of your life due to the muscle confusion technique that Tony Horton employs in the program.
Tony Horton's original workout Power 90 focuses on six weekly workouts that are approximately 30 minutes long. The program is designed to last 90 days. The workouts consist of some of the same exercises as P90X such as Kempo, cardio, and Plyometrics, but are less intense. The program is designed to get you started on your way to a slim and toned body in 90 days.
However, the P90X workout program is more advanced and can last a lot longer than the 90 day program. The workouts in this program are extended to 60 minutes a day for 6 days out of the week. These workouts were designed by Tony Horton to push you to your absolute limits to change your body in that 90 day program.
Tony Horton also included 12 different workouts in the P90X program rather than six that are in the Power 90 one. Each of the workouts focuses on a specific area of the body or a certain genre of exercises. Just some of the 12 workouts included are: Kempo, Plyometrics, Yoga, Shoulders and Arms, Backs and Biceps, and Legs and Back.
One of the significant differences in these workouts is that P90X can be used over and over again as it uses muscle confusion to help you constantly evolve and reshape you body. With the exercises you can take it slower at first and as you gain more strength and power you can then add the more advanced techniques that Tony teaches in the DVDs. This makes it possible for you to continue on with the workouts well past 90 days, as you are always keeping your body confused, which means that you can avoid plateaus and constantly engage your body.
Some people may find that they rather start out with the Power 90 series first while others may want to jump right into the P90X workout program. Tony Horton did not design P90X so that you have to buy Power 90 first. It is up to the individual person which route that they wish to take with their workout program.

Lose Weight & Keep It Off With Circuit Training DVD’s like Chalean Extreme!
If you are looking to lose weight and keep it off for good, then you need to look no further than circuit training workouts. Circuit training workouts such as ChaLEAN Extreme, can help you shed the unwanted pounds by slimming your body and giving you the metabolism boost you need to keep the pounds off.
Circuit training is based off the simple principle that muscle burns fat. It has been proven, that the human body will burn more calories when you have lean muscle than when you have more fat. Circuit training involves a quick paced workout of different strength training moves and exercises. Not only does this type of workout give you the benefit of developing lean muscle, it also involves a cardiovascular workout, which helps burn calories and keep your heart healthy. You can easily lose weight during a cardiovascular exercise, but when you do circuit training workouts, you are looking at the long term of losing weight and keeping it off.
With such workouts as ChaLEAN Extreme, the whole point of the program is to quickly move from one exercise to another so that you are raising your heart rate as well as benefiting from the strength training exercises. There is no taking a break in between a set of squats. Instead you will do a set of squats and within the next 10-15 seconds move into a set of bicep curls.
Most of the time the sets are brief as they last no longer than 30-60 seconds. So that may mean you do 15 squats and then move into 15 bicep curls on each arm. After one full set, the exercises are usually repeated or you can choose enough different strength exercises to do a full 30-45 minute set.
When you gain lean muscle with circuit training you are going to be able to raise your metabolism. This means that you can burn fat at a faster pace even while you are sleeping at night. What person would not want to lose weight while sleeping and resting? Not only will you lose weight quicker, but you can keep it off for good by keeping a regular routine of circuit training workouts.
Even though circuit training workouts like ChaLEAN Extreme are not the easiest workouts, they are the most beneficial when it comes to weight loss and getting that slim and toned body you desire. When you first start a program of this nature, you just have to make sure that you are not pushing yourself to the point that you are risking injury. You will need to push yourself, but you need to find a balance at what you body is capable of. Beginners who are new to circuit training may find that they are easily tired, but if they stick with, before they know it they will be losing weight and gaining more energy and strength.
Circuit training does not require any big piece of exercise equipment or a large investment of money. You can simply buy a program like ChaLEAN Extreme so that you know how to correctly do the exercises and you get the maximum benefits from the exercise. You will just need a set of free weights and resistance bands if you wish, to effectively burn fat, get lean muscle and get the body of your dreams.

P90X: Why Yoga Is Important To The Workout Program
Sometimes yoga gets a bad name in the strength training and fitness world. There are some people that see no need for this type of workout when trying to lose weight or reshape their bodies. What those people don't realize is that yoga is an important aspect of a fitness program like P90X.
The P90X fitness program comes with 12 different workouts that are designed to transform your body. Some of the workouts focus on a specific part of the body such as Legs and Back while other workouts are different genres such as yoga. At first glance to the 12 P90X workouts, it may seem like this type of workout is out of place, but if you understand how beneficial yoga is to your body, then you will see why Tony Horton included it in the P90X system.

Some people who think that they are in excellent shape or have excellent strength find that they are unable to hold the poses for the desired amount of time. Yoga is one of those workouts that you have to start off slow with and then evolve into it as you gain more strength and flexibility.
Yoga is a perfect compliment to the P90X system because if offers the an enlightenment to your mind and body as well as provides you with a chance to increase your flexibility and strength. Lifting weights is not the only way to develop strength. This workout can easily provide you with the toned muscles that you are looking for. It also provides you with terrific balance and coordination which is needed for the other P90X workouts. It can also help you improve your posture and athleticism for any sports or competitions that you may be involved in.
This workout also offers a little break from the high-intensity workouts that come in the P90X program. It offers some relaxation during the program and offers a way to clear your mind and get ready for your amazing journey on the system. When you use this workout in your P90X regiment you will find that you feel invigorated and that you are just well-connected on so many levels.
Yoga is beneficial for both the body and the mind. Tony Horton knew very well what he was doing when he included it in the P90X workout program. He knew just how beneficial a type of workout could be for people who are looking to improve their overall health and achieve their best body.

Turbo Jam Nutritional Tips To Help You Lose Weight
You may have seen the infomercial for Turbo Jam, a trendy weight loss workout by Beachbody, but may have not have known what exactly it is about. Turbo Jam was developed by fitness guru Chalene Johnson to help people lose weight and have fun at the same time. It combines marital arts, dance and strength training exercises into one fun workout that will help you lose weight and slim your body.
What many people don't realize when they see the infomercial for Turbo Jam that it is not all about the workout. Even though the workout is designed to help you lose weight quickly, you can't achieve that without the proper nutrition which involves a healthy and balanced diet. Here are some nutritional tips to help you get started on your weight loss program.
Eat only the whites of eggs instead of the whole egg to cut back on calories and cholesterol. Make your scrambled eggs or egg sandwiches with only the whites and you can actually eat more of it than if you ate the yolk also.
Choose lean meats as a source of protein rather than fatty red meats. Lean meats include turkey, chicken, and pork. The portion serving on a piece of meat should be no larger than the size of the palm of your hand.
Avoid eating any pasta, vegetables, or meats that have cream sauces or gravies over them. Those types of sauces are loaded in calories and fat.
A large salad can be a great healthy option for a meal, but be sure to avoid creamy, high-fat dressings like ranch or Cesar dressing. Add a variety of vegetables to your salad along with a lean meat and top with a vinaigrette dressing for healthy and filling meal.
Substitute any white starchy foods such as potatoes and white bread with whole grains and foods that are high in fiber. Instead of white bread or past, use whole wheat or whole grain breads and pastas. Substitute sweet potatoes for regular white potatoes. Foods that are high in fiber will help you to feel full longer, so you eat less.
Choose whole fruits over fruit juice. Fruit juice can contain a large amount of sugar and empty calories that you don't need if you are trying to lose weight.
Try drinking a tall glass of water at 30 minutes before you eat dinner. Many times people tend to overeat because they are actually dehydrated rather than hungry. The water can also help to curb your hunger.
Avoid soda, beer, and hard alcohol as they are calorie dense and only add empty calories to your body. If you have to have a diet soda, limit them to one a day, as they can actually fool your body into thinking it is hungry.
If you are a beginner to weight loss and the Turbo Jam program, then you may not want to apply all of these nutritional tips at once. Instead pick a couple every week and focus on accomplishing them and changing your lifestyle for good. This way you are not shocking your body and you don't feel like you are depriving yourself to lose weight.

Hip Hob Abs
The Hip Hop Abs program incorporates a technique that was developed by Shaun T called tilt, tuck, and tighten. This basically involves keeping your abdominal muscles contracted and tightened during every

Rockin Body
Shaun T released the workout series Rocking Body shortly after releasing Hip Hob Abs. He saw the that people were enjoying the dancing during the workout and were losing weight from it. He decided to make the Rockin Body series so that people could have fun dancing and burn fat from their entire body. For this workout he took some of the hottest music and choreographed dance routines that are designed to shed calories from your entire body. He came up with a mark it and move it technique to easily teach just about anybody who to dance for the workout.
There are basically two big differences between Shaun T's Hip Hop Abs and Rockin Body. The first difference is that Hip Hob Abs was designed to focus on slimming the abdominal muscles more than Rockin Body. Rocking Body can give you flat abs, but is not designed specifically for that.
The second difference, which is the most important is that Rockin Body is for the person who wants to dance for their workouts. All of the videos in the series contain dancing and trendy music to get your heart rate up. On the other hand, Hip Hop Abs does have some dancing, but focuses more on exercises and movements rather than flowing dance routines.
Each of these two workout programs will appeal to different people. Some people may like more of the dancing and being able to bust a move, while others may be interested in more of exercises to slim to the body. It all depends on how you want to lose weight and get achieve a slimmer body.

P90X: Plyometrics Explained
Plyometrics, also known as jump training is an intense workout that is designed to dramatically improve your athletic performance. Not everyone understands what exactly plyometrics is and why it is so beneficial to you. There are several reasons why you may want to incorporate this
Plyometric exercises involves stretching a muscle right before it is contracted all in one exercise. Most plyometric exercises involve jumps, hops, and bounding of some sort. An example of one of these exercises, is one of the moves that Tony Horton uses in P90X called side to side hops. This involves hopping side to side over a cord in the middle with your ankles together.
So, why are plyometric exercises so beneficial? These types of exercises are one of the best ways to improve power, speed, and cardiovascular endurance. If you play a competitive sport,

You want to make sure that you are always being careful and taking the necessary precautions to protect yourself from injury.

A lot of professional and collegiate athletes like to add plyometric exercises into their workout routine to help them gain power and speed. Plyometrics is not just for professional athletes though. This type of workout is a great cardiovascular workout for your heart.

How to Use a Body Fat Tester to Tell If You Have Too Much Body Fat
Some people may think that they are healthy and they may even fall into a healthy weight range, but they could have way too much body fat and not even know it. This is why it is important to use a body fat tester to see exactly how much body fat you have.
Excess fat is associated with several medical complications and diseases such as high blood pressure, heart disease, heart attack, stroke, diabetes, some cancers, and high cholesterol. Simply using a body fat tester to monitor your percentages of fat can greatly increase the chances that you will not have to worry about those medical complications.
There are a couple of different kinds of body fat testers that are available. There are ones that are sold for at home or personal use and then there are professional ones that personal trainers and doctors have. You don't have to go to a doctor or personal trainer to get a pretty accurate body fat percentage. Most personal testers can provide you with an accurate number.
Most of the at home fat testers use skin folds to determine the fat percentage. This is done by taking a pinch of skin from different areas of the body such as the stomach and the upper arms and measuring it with calipers. These measurements are then used in an equation that is supplied with the tester to determine the person's fat percentage. The accuracy of these results can be swayed by the actual person using the tester, but if done properly, the results can be quite accurate.
So, once you have measured your body fat and you have your percentage, what does it all mean? Well, the American Council on Exercise has released a chart stating what percentages for fat are acceptable and desired. The chart separates women from men as women are always going to have a higher percentage because of their hormonal make up. Women are made to carry more fat on their bodies since they are the ones that carry and give birth to children.
For women, the acceptable percentage of fat would be 25-31%. Anything lower than that is considered to be great. The exception comes when your body fat percentage is too low. This may be the case for people with eating disorders or medical conditions. For women, they should not have a number under 10%.
For men, though, they can have a percentage of 2-3% and still be considered healthy. Men tend to be leaner and carry less fat on their bodies. The acceptable percentage for men is 18-25%, with the ideal being 6-13%.
Body fat testers can come in handy when you are trying to lose weight and want to monitor and track your progress. They can motivate you to get to a healthy range and stay there for life.

How to Easily Lose Belly Fat and Get a Flat Stomach
What person doesn't yearn to lose their belly flat and get a flat stomach? The thing about accomplishing this goal is that it does take hard work and you can't get a flat stomach from
sitting on the couch watching television and eating potato chips. Don't get discouraged though, as just making some small healthy changes into your lifestyle, can help you to see some big results in the flat stomach department. Here is how you can lose the belly fat and get your flat stomach of your dreams. The number one thing that you have to know is that a flat stomach is not accomplished with exercise alone. You need to have a healthy diet in order to lose the belly flat. The reason why most people never see a flat stomach is because they have a layer of fat that has built up over their abdominal muscles. This fat can only be burned off through a healthy diet and exercise. Keeping your body fat low by watching what you eat can greatly increase the chances that you will have that flat stomach that you desire. Try to stay away from processed food and sugars that signal the body to hold onto the body fat that you already have.
Along with the healthy and balanced diet, comes exercise. Some people are just naturally blessed with a lower percentage of body fat, while 98% of the population has to exercise to get a lower
body fat percentage. In order to burn body fat you have to do cardiovascular exercise that raises the heart rate and gets your body into calorie burning mode. As mentioned before, if you have a layer of fat over your stomach muscles, you are never going to see the flat and toned stomach that you may have underneath. If you really want to speed up the process of getting a flat stomach and losing belly fat, then look for workouts like Hip Hop Abs and circuit training that strengthen and tone your muscles while giving you a cardiovascular workout. These types of workouts are able to focus on the abs to get the tight muscles and also get your body into fat burning mode.
If you don't want to to circuit training or a workout program like Hip Hop Abs, then you can do your cardiovascular workouts and your strength training workouts separately. This will take
more time from your schedule, but some people may find this works better for them. The key to losing belly fat and gaining a flat stomach is not a magical formula. It is actually very simple: regular exercise and a healthy diet.

The Benefits of Strength Training For Weight Loss
If you are dieting and want to find a good way to complement your weight loss goals you can do so by adding a strength training program to your weight loss regime. In order to lose weight you need to burn more calories than you take in. You need to burn 3500 calories to lose one pound of excess baggage. You can diet alone and lose weight slowly without concentration on toning up or you can diet, firm up, and speed up this process by implementing strength training into your fitness regimen.
Dieting alone will accomplish weight loss. However, adding strength training to your plan will
allow you the benefit of not only accelerating the process of weight loss, but doing so while toning and firming your body. When you lose weight sometimes your skin does not always go back in place in certain areas. If your skin has lost some of its elasticity, such as with obesity or age, you will notice some areas that are not quite as firm as they once were. This requires exercise to tone and firm these areas. Additionally, weight training will build the needed muscle that you need to increase your metabolism. Increasing your metabolism will help to burn those calories and succeed at a much faster rate of weight loss.Muscle does weigh more than fat, but muscle also burns calories at a higher speed. By increasing your muscle mass through strength training you will be able to burn calories much more efficiently while also acquiring a toner, more firm body.
The calorie burning effect that strength training gives you will keep your body burning calories all day long. Strength training will also strengthen your bones. This is a very important piece of information, especially for women who are at an increased risk for osteoporosis.
Strength training can be accomplished by working out with weights. If you are just starting out, go easy. It makes no sense to push yourself one day only to be too sore to work out the rest of the week because you over did it. For women, starting out with 3- to 5-pound weights is ideal. You can find weight training programs that you can do at home such as P90X or you can go to your local gym and spend money on a personal trainer.
You will want to build up slowly and with this type of thought you will notice gradual increases in your ability to accomplish your goals. Start out slowly and work your body so that you are able to perform each workout with just the slightest discomfort in your final repetition. Working
beyond this point means that your body is not yet ready for the next level. Start out with 2 to 3 sets of 10 repetitions of each exercise. If this is too much scale back a bit and proceed even more slowly until you are ready for more. Let your body be the judge of just how much you can handle comfortably. Never work on the same group of muscles two days in a row. Your muscles need time to rest in between workouts.Strength training for weight loss is the most effective way to reach your goals. You will see your weight drop more quickly while sculpting your body at the same time.
